this book has a very religious base, as suggesting that abuse can be fixed by embracing prayer to God/Jesus. However the basis for the reaction people have to abuse and the actions of the abuser struck the chord of reality for me. It explains the reactions of the abused and helps to understand how the abused lives in society.
