I consider myself a Christian. This is an evangelical religious book, and unless that's what you want to read, you'll be disappointed. It's about a very wealthy evangelical who needs to make sense of his wife's death. (One way he does so by proselytizing via this book.) He befriends a homeless man who becomes so religious that God actually speaks through him. He says the devil is going to go after the wealthy man's wife, because she's so good. Next thing you know, she has cancer. However, then they convince themselves that God took the wife so that good could come of her death. So did the devil get her, or did God take her in order to do good? Seems they are unable to separate God's work from the devil's. I find this contradictory and troubling, but it's probably necessary for those who believe we are God's playthings...and that God and the devil duel it out behind the scenes. In the end, the wealthy guy makes a lot more money off of this book, which he can use to proselytize some more while living the high life and feeling close to God...just like televangelists, except by writing.Get more detail about Same Kind of Different As Me (Thorndike Press Large Print Inspirational Series).
