My counselor recommended this book, and I've not finished all the exercises at the chapter endings, but the book does enlighten me and provides good discussion topics. I did not even realize that the author's writing was not just for the enabler in denial, who was trying to cope with life with a substance abuser, be it alcohol, drugs, etc. The reading keeps my attention, and I like it enough to consider subsequent purchases by Melody Beattie. I also plan to share this book with friends, whom I feel would benefit from reading it. I consider this book a very worthwhile purchase.
